Welcome to High Rack Ranch

Nestled in the Heart of East Texas and located just 5 miles west of Alto in Cherokee County, sits an 1100 acre hunting and fishing haven.  The ranch consists of approximately 400acres of extensively managed Pine Plantation with the rest having a good mix of Oaks, Elm, Walnut, and Pine.  It also has a substantial amount of topography that adds a unique element to the hunting experience.  The topography of the ranch varies over 300 feet creating large heavily wooded draws and rolling hills.  Most of our visitors are very surprised to find such beauty and elevation in East Texas.

Upon purchasing the ranch, we decided to immediately start the construction of a large lake that has quickly become a fisherman’s dream.  The lake was stocked with Northern and Florida strain bass along with crappie, blue catfish, and bream.  The lake is managed yearly by adding forage fish such as Tilapia, Threadfin Shad, and various minnows to maximize the growth of the bass, crappie, and catfish.

In 2006, we initiated a deer breeding operation to improve the genetics of the deer on the property.  Our philosophy then and now is to keep a relatively small herd of the best quality deer the industry has to offer.  We feel that smaller herds are less susceptible to stress related illnesses that plague some of the larger breeders.  We strongly believe that our success is solely based on the lack of stress that is placed on our herd and minimal number of deer in each pen.
